I'm fired from the blogosphere.

In fact, I’m fired from the internets.

I seem to have a wonderful talent for starting things and abandoning them — this seems most evident in every online journal/blog I’ve kept, especially over the last year or so.

Anyway, when we last spoke, I was expecting a baby. Baby is now here! His name is Archer (middle names Kit Hudson) and he was born on September 13th. He’s almost 10 weeks old, and doing wonderfully – I’m also doing well and keeping busy. In lieu of real content, here’s some baby spam for you:

Archer Kit Hudson - Fresh Baby
Here he is, all fresh and new to the world…

Not so fresh, but still fresh if you know what I mean!
And here he is this past week in a pair of very fashionable longies I knit him that are almost too small. Boo.

Now, I suppose the most interesting piece of information would be that I’m going to try and be a little more active both here and on my livejournal. Chances are, this blog will be slightly less personal, and slightly more full of knitting related things. That’s not to say I won’t talk about ANYTHING personal, just that I won’t go into a great deal of detail. If you have an LJ and you’d like to add me, just let me know who you are so I can add you back because it’s friend’s only.

Aside from that, it’s time to start getting ready for Christmas and I’m stoked! Are you ready for the holidays or are they sneaking up on you? :P

A Little More Progress . . .

Â
Blocking, blocking, blocking.

Husband has been out at work for the past few days so I’ve managed to squeeze in a good amount of knitting/knitting-related progress. Finishing up the cuff on the second sleeve – should have it done in the next day or two all things going as planned. The first sleeve is sitting coiled on the coffee table waiting patiently for its own blockage. I really can’t wait for seaming; mostly because I can’t wait until I can wear it!

The cats were really intrigued with the blocking process, and impeded my progress every step of the way. I’d turn my head for a moment to grab another pile of pins and when I turned back there were cats rolling on my still-damp back panel. Agh! They’re hell-bent on hairifying every piece of knitting in the house, I swear.

On a side note: Kung Fu Panda? Definitely worth a watch. It was great fun – enjoyable for just about any age. We went last night with some friends and took my younger sister and everyone had a great time. Been awhile since I’ve really enjoyed a “funny movie”, so I like to pretend that counts for something.

Did I mention that it’s starting to feel like summer? (Even in the house!)

Erin Does More Than Just Knit!

Normally, I wouldn’t intrude on my own little knitting haven with unrelated nonsense, but I’ve got some unrelated nonsense that I feel I need to share.

I’ll give you a little backstory to kick things off: I’ve been working for Subway (the food place, not the transit system) since I was fifteen. It was my first job, and, honestly, it’s been good to me. I manage one of the locations in town, and I do all right. I’m good at my job, my boss is fantastic, and free food is always a bonus. :)

However, lately, I’ve been feeling really trapped. I think that it’s because I’ve been in one place for so long, and since I was still, essentially, a “kid”. Anyway, I haven’t been happy with my job for a few months. So, I actually gave a long-term notice to my boss, and told him that the end of June, tops. Then I’m gone.

In preparation, I’ve posted off a few resumes and put my name in with a local staffing agency to further my attempts at scoring some kind of cushy desk job that doesn’t involve food service.

I GOT A CALL FOR AN INTERVIEW, TODAY.  That was the sun on an otherwise dingy day; it’s been raining on and off all afternoon, and work was less than stellar. I GOT AN INTERVIEW! And it’s on Monday! I’m so excited!

In knitterly news, I got sick of the toe-up socks–not necessarily due to the toe-up factor, but I’m just sick of them. So I whipped out my ball winder and balled up a skein of BMFA‘s “Fire on the Mountain” in STR Mediumweight, and cast on for a pair of Jaywalkers. I’m really in love with this yarn–it feels so nice, and thus far, is working up really wonderfully.

The Hemlock Ring Blanket from a few posts earlier wasn’t ready in time for the wedding, alas. But, I’ve come to terms with the fact that she probably wouldn’t have loved that blanket the way that my cats do. Yeah. My cats. They adopted it was it was on hiatus over the past couple of weeks and have been nesting in the finished-except-for-the-bindoff carcass. On the plus side, I don’t need to keep enlarging it, so I’m okay with this.

Auntie is getting a nice wedding album, and some hugs from this couple. Oh well!
